The KODI Rafting Family

KODI Rafting has been taking people on guided, whitewater raft trips since 1986, and our customers love us. The reason for this is our friendly office staff and helpful, professional river guides. Many of our highly trained, raft guides have been with us for years.

KODI Rafting Owners – Dave and Amy McGrath

The McGrath Family

The McGrath Family

Dave and Amy enjoy spending their lives on the river and living in the mountains with their family. They have been rafting together since 2002 when Dave began his career as a raft guide on the Arkansas River.

The duo spent several years living and working in the area after graduating from Kansas State University. After starting a family in 2009 they set out on new adventures to reconnect with their roots, eventually returning to Colorado.

Together they share a passion for the river and are excited to pass the KODI legacy on to their daughter Danni, and son Thomas.

If Dave isn’t your raft guide, he is likely driving your bus, Thomas by his side. Amy and Danni, along with Scout the pup, will greet you when you return from your trip. Be sure to ask Danni to make you a famous smoothie in the Coffee shop!

Krista Martinson – The Top Dog/ Head Boatwoman/ Guide/ “Magical Water Sprite”

Krista, aka “Mama Wolf”, has been rafting commercially since 1998. She is known through the Valley for her longevity on the river, and for her amazing tan!

Mama Wolf has been at KODI since 1999 and is our leading lady! She heads up the KODI training program for ‘new’ guides. Her time off the water is spent in the boathouse making sure KODI is a well-oiled machine. She is a wealth of knowledge and a true asset to the boating community.

Out of all the rivers KODI rafts, her favorite section is the Numbers on the Arkansas River. Her  favorite rapid up there is #6.  “It is technical and the first of Class IV rapids. (Indicates the potential of your paddlers and what the rest of your day has in store)”!

She lives in Summit County with her husband, Danny, and their 3 dogs Rosco, Pigpen and Yackson. Mama Wolf is also an avid golfer, often managing to play at least 18 holes every week on top of her busy schedule.  In the off-season you will find her at Copper Mountain on her snowboard or behind the bar at Jack’s. If you have the chance, be sure to ask her how many times she has rafted the Grand Canyon!

In the off-season you will find Chas guiding over-seas. Look for him in Australia on the Tully River. He has  lived in Australia, Costa Rica, and New Zealand. When Chas isn’t “chasing the sun”, he is hanging with RUFUS (his famous dog), kayaking or playing the drums.

In the “off-season” Terry is a snowmobile guide here in Colorado, just above the headwaters of the mighty Arkansas River. When he isn’t offering his guide services in the mountains or on the water, you will find him hiking the many trails here in the Rockies, on his mountain bike or on his skis!
